Meet Rounder Magazine cover model and recording artist Harmony Shay

By Jamie Villamor, Staff

Recording artist Harmony Shay is Rounder Magazine’s latest cover model. Her newest single “Sunshine” was released on 9.9, is her 10th single to come out so far!

She’s been traveling the globe, performing for incredible audiences, and creating a name for herself in the music industry.

We caught up with her in Las Vegas during her shoot with internationally published photographer Jose Burrola.

How old were you when you actually started singing?

HARMONY: I was 3-years old when I started to sing. My dad has always done vocal impersonations. He put a mic in my hand at a young age and I loved it ever since.

Do you write all your own songs?

HARMONY: Yes, I write all my own songs. I am extremely passionate about songwriting. Lyrics are so meaningful to me. They have helped me get through so much in my personal life, and I want to do that for others. I want to help others through my music, through my lyrics, and that’s a big deal for me.

Which famous musician(s) do you admire most and why?

HARMONY: I admire so many different artists for different reasons so it’s hard to select only a few. I’m currently really digging Kelsea Ballerini, Carley Pearce, Morgan Wallen, & Teddy Swims. I love their songwriting and that their music makes you FEEL something when you hear it. I’m huge on heartstrings, so I need to feel something when I listen to music and the fact that they also write it is even more impressive!

Who would you most like to collaborate with?

HARMONY: Morgan Wallen! I think we would create amazing music together.

What is your creative process like?

I can be anywhere and a song will just come to me. Different things inspire it. A lot of heartbreak and hard times are when I write the most, but my travels.. situations.. things people say.. all trigger things at random times and I download the songs. It’s almost like they’re just coming through me. It’s an amazing process.

Do you get nervous when you perform?

I do!! I always want everything to go perfect, so I get very nervous right before. Once I’m up on stage, though, it’s like I step into a different world. It’s my favorite place to be.

How do you unwind after a show?

I usually go over the show in my head haha! I never want performances to end!

What are your goals as an artist?

Honestly my dream would be to tour the world, inspire others with my music and my lyrics – I would love to be on the radio touching lives in a positive way, being a positive influence on people and articulating things that other people can’t do. Sometimes people just can’t find the words to say what they want to say, or the message. Songs kind of give you that. I want to be a voice for people who don’t know how to articulate themselves, and also to not make people feel so alone in life. Music kind of does that for you. You feel like ‘Hey, somebody else went through this, they’re ok, I can be ok too” or just somebody gets it and relates and I’m not alone.

Do you have any upcoming shows?

I have a few shows in the works right now and will be releasing the dates and venues soon!

Listen to “Sunshine” & all Harmony’s songs on all music platforms!
