Poker player Matt Glantz is betting on whether or not the President of the United States “will die before the election.”

Glantz, who has over $7.1 million in Total Live Earnings according to the Hendon Mob Poker database, announced that if Trump lives he will collect $1,000, but if he dies he has to pay $50k, “Who’s side you like?”

While some responded in disgust replying “Any bet that involves dying is ignorant”…

Others, like jeff tims (@iteach) tweeted their hopes (presumably tongue in cheek or maybe not), for the President’s demise,

“Only time I’m ever rooting against you.”

While most would agree wagering on a person’s death, no matter who it is is in bad taste, if not reprehensible, it doesn’t appear to be in violation of any of Twitter’s policies.

It’s not the first time poker players have discussed betting on a politician’s demise. In February of this year, following Bernie Sanders’ heart attack (in 2019), superstar poker pro Daniel Negreanu predicted the Senator wasn’t “a favorite to hit 82.”

When faced with a wager by A2s (@dartsandmonkeys) who picked Sanders to survive till “12”01 AM EST Feb 24, 2024″ Negreanu remarked, “It’s a bit too morbid betting on someone’s death, no?”

In an industry where shock value is highly praised, don’t expect the poker community to shed its “outer fringe” image any time soon.

In March, Glantz also announced that he was willing to contract coronavirus for $250,000, but was unable to come to terms with his fellow gambler.
