Kristen Foxen Eyes WSOP’s Top Prize, Cements Status As One Of Poker’s Best

By Staff

As Kristen Foxen takes center stage today, the story captivating the poker world is about a woman vying for a spot at the final table of the World Series of Poker. If she makes it, it will be the first time we get to see a women represent, since Barbara Enright accomplished the feat in 1995 (*Annette Obrestad won the WSOP Europe Main Event in 2007, one day before her 19th birthday).

The odds against Foxen were tremendous. 10,112 players entered poker’s most prestigious event. She, along with each of the remaining 18 players, battled through the massive field, playing brilliantly. Deep in Day 7, her supporters asked and received a “one-time” when she faced elimination, all-in with A5s vs QQ. After the miracle ace showed up on the river, Foxen proceeded to meticulously run her stack up to a healthy 47,400,000, good for 5th spot, heading into Day 8.

The 4-time WSOP bracelet winner is now one of the favorites to win the event.

Will Foxen make the Final Table?

Will she win it all?

Kristen Foxen Career Highlights

Excerpts from article published on May 11, 2023 – Top 10 Female Poker Pros: The St. Catherines, ON, Canada native who honed her skills playing millions of hands online, booked her first big “live” score with a first-place finish in the $1,000 Ladies Championships at the 2013 WSOP for $173,922. In 2016 she captured her second bracelet in the WSOP $1,500 Bounty Event for $290,768, paving the way for an ambassadorship deal with PartyPoker.

Foxen continued her rise in 2017 with over $500k in tournament earnings highlighted by a $5k NLH event at the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $199,840, securing her first of three consecutive GPI Female POY awards.

Her winning ways continued in 2018 with a first-place finish in the APPT $10k High-Roller for $279,549 followed up a week later with a 4th-place finish in a $12.5k buy-in event for $194,081. Her runner-up finish to her future husband, Alex Foxen, in the MSPT $5k Main Event at Venetian for $200,000 was the icing on the cake to a terrific year that saw her winning over $1,000,000 on the tournament trail for the first time.

2019 highlights include a first-place finish in the $25k Poker Masters for $408,000, a $238,684 score at the Triton Super High Roller, a 3rd place finish good for $254,770 at the Merit Poker Classic in Cyprus, and an 11th-place finish in the PSPC $25k Players Championship for $328,500.

Forced back to her online roots during the Covid pandemic in 2020, “krissyb24” won over $1.3M. Her biggest score was a first-place finish for $356,412 in the WSOP $2,500 6-handed event at GGPoker, Online. Two months prior she finished 3rd in the $25,000 PartyPoker Super High Roller Bowl Online for $236,000.

*Limited live action due to lockdowns and cancellations of major events, marked the end of Foxen’s GPI dominance. *GPI points are not awarded for online play. In 2021 the World Series of Poker banned the unvaccinated from attending the annual festival, which had untold negative effects on Foxen’s WSOP career stats.

In 2022 Foxen, formerly Kristen Bicknell, married longtime boyfriend and fellow mtt-crusher Alex Foxen. A month later she finished 5th in the WPT Choctaw Championship Event for $135,000, her biggest score of the year. 2022 would be considered an “off year” for the full-time pro, as she won $330,000 total, well below her $1m/yr average over the past seven years.

Mr. Foxen, however, picked up the slack. With his newlywed wife by his side for support, he won his first WSOP bracelet and $4,563,700 in the $250K Super High Roller.

In 2023, Kristen Foxen returned to form, crushing the tournament trail for $1.5M in live earnings including 3rd and 6th-place finishes in the PokerGo Cup in January, followed by a 4th-place finish in the U.S. Poker Open in March. In August she finished 2nd in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $10K Deep-Stack Event for $216,079.

Her deep run in the WPT Championship in December (2023), cemented her status as the ‘greatest female tournament poker player of all time”, in most observer’s eyes – and one of the game’s best.

So far in 2024, Foxen has amassed over $840,000 in live earnings (not including her current WSOP Main Event result tbd).

In February Foxen was awarded the “Female Player of the Year” for the 4th time in her career, which she graciously accepted, while pointing out she’d prefer “not separating men and women when it comes to poker.”
