Biloxi, MS : Metairie, LA native Joseph Hebert had a champion’s week at The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. Explaining his rough start to the annually held series, “I fired four bullets into the re-entry tournament and busted, so I was down $1,600.” Little did he know then, this would be a week he would never forget. Hebert entered Event #2 The One Day $300 Buy-In No-Limit Hold’em Event and took home the $12,240 first place prize, but he didn’t stop there.
Four days later he entered and won Event #12 ($300 8-Max) for $8,607, officially putting him on a heater at “The Heater” and setting the stage for his storybook run.
The $2,000 High Roller attracted a total of 186 players from two starting flights. Twenty-seven players survived and met Monday, January 13th, on the felt to decide a winner.
Hebert came into Day 2 in good shape, 8th position, with a healthy stack of 275,000 chips. After building his stack to just over a million chips, he won a hand that propelled him into a huge chip lead that he would never relinquish. He was dealt a KQ and flopped a KKQ for the nuts against an all-in player and a second player who had close to one million chips. His opponent hit a straight on the turn, leading to a second-best bust for him and a huge chip-up for Hebert.

After playing four-handed for a while at the final table, the remaining players asked to hear the ICM numbers and began discussing a chop. With the NCAA National Championship kickoff rapidly approaching, the players agreed to a deal giving Hebert, the massive chip leader, first place and $74,000.
‘That’s the reason we chopped, so we can go watch the game…We’re all good friends”, Hebert explained.
The four winners finished the evening celebrating their massive High Roller payouts at TAP Sportsbook inside the Beau, watching the Championship game together. Still on a roll, they also won their sports bets, capping off a very profitable day they will always remember.
